美國教師聯盟（The American Federation of Teachers，AFT），也译作美國教師聯合會，是由美國教師組成的工會團體，由瑪格麗特·海莉創立於1916年的芝加哥；[3][4] 其前身為1900年創立的美國教師與學生聯盟（American Federation of Teachers and Students）。[5]
美國教師聯盟有約60%的會員從事教職，其餘為準教職人員或其他校園工作者，包括聯邦政府或各州職員、大學院校職員、護理師、醫療從業者等人員，組成相當多元。 美國教師聯盟自成立以來，就是美國勞工聯合會-產業工會聯合會的會員工會。

美國教師聯盟創立於1916年4月15日的芝加哥。1919年時，美國教師聯盟已有100個地方分會，合計代表1萬1, 000名美國教師的權益（佔當時美國教師總數的1.5%）。 成立初期，有別於全國教育協會（NEA），美國教師聯盟純為教師組織，不接受學校行政人員成為會員。在政治人物與各校高層打壓下，1930年的美國教師聯盟會員人數一度僅剩7,000人，其對聯邦政府或各州教育政策的影響力也漸趨衰落。 [6]
不過，1939年時，美國遭逢經濟大恐慌，政府和各校都陷入財務困境，連帶影響教師工作權益和教學品質，導致許多教師因不滿現狀而加入工會，美國教師聯盟的會員人數也在此時攀升至3萬3,000人。1930年代的美國教師聯盟不只能為小學教師發聲，也能為大學教授的勞動權益挺身而出。此時，美國共產黨也逐漸滲透聯盟，以某些地方分會為基地吸收成員，並招致非共產黨人的聯盟幹部不滿。在1941年，美國教師聯盟就拒絕三個由共產黨人主導的地方工會加入聯盟，這三個地方工會都位於紐約市或費城。
到了1940年代，美國教師聯盟開始以一系列罷工行動，作為組織發展策略。第二次世界大戰結束後，1946年到1949年間，美國教師聯盟共發動57次罷工行動，此時美國教師聯盟的會員人數已上升到4萬2,000人。1960、70年代，美國教師罷工行動更為頻繁，僅在1960年至1974年間，就有約1,000次教師罷工行動，總共影響全美82萬3,000名教師的權益。如此頻繁的罷工行動，其成效也反映在聯盟的會員人數上：美國教師聯盟在1960年的會員人數是5萬9,000人，1970年是20萬人，1980年更達到55萬人。在這些會員中，有將近一半的會員也加入了全國教育協會；1998年該協會曾討論是否與美國教師聯盟合併，但被否決。
1977年，《美國教育工作者》創刊，每季發行一次，是美國教師聯盟的機關報，為全美教師提供兒童與教育相關議題資訊。
政治行動[编辑]
2008年美國總統選舉時，美國教師聯盟宣布捐贈178萬4,808.59美元的政治獻金給希拉蕊·柯林頓陣營。同時該聯盟也捐贈199萬7,375美元政治獻金給巴拉克·歐巴馬陣營。[7]
2015年7月，美國教師聯盟宣布支持希拉蕊·柯林頓參選第45任美國總統。希拉蕊與美國教師聯盟主席蘭迪·溫加頓是多年好友。[8] 不過，該聯盟內部對此有所爭議。部分會員認為聯盟決策太快，無法充分反映基層會員對未來教育政策的想像。有些會員在民主黨內初選時，傾向支持伯尼·桑德斯提出的教育方針。[9][10]
