順性別

順性別(英語:Cisgender)是指性别认同与出生时指定性别相同的人的一个术语。例如:一個人的性別認同是女性並且出生時被指定女性,這個人就是順性別女性。順性別一詞與跨性別剛好相反。[1][2]

以顺性别为标准看待社会的世界观被称作“顺性别主义”(cissexism)。[3][4][5][6]

詞源和術語[编辑]

部分說法認為,因為絕大部分人的性别指定性別認同是相同的,因此無須以「順」字強調之。但對於跨性別者甚至非異性戀者而言,大部分人皆為順性別,並不代表順性別是理所當然的;使用「順」字強調的目的即在於,破除「人人皆為順性別」的預設。

儘管一些人認為順性別一詞就只是政治正確的用語,[7][8][9][10][11]但醫學學者自1990年代以來就一直使用該術語並認識到其在跨性別研究中的重要性。[12][13][14]

2014年2月,Facebook開始提供「自定義」的性別選項,用戶可以從性別相關的選項當中選擇一個或多個與性別相關的術語,包含順性別等等。[15][16]順性別還於2013年被添加到《牛津英語詞典》中,其定義為「指一个人的身份认同感与出生时的指定性别相对应的人(与跨性別相反)」。[17]美國歷史學會指出,自从术语順性別被纳入以来,該術語的使用已經越來越普遍。[18]

從女性主義和性別研究[编辑]

Krista Scott-Dixon在2009年寫道:「我更喜歡non-trans(非跨)這個詞,以及其他選擇,像是cissexual或cisgendered。」[19]她認同這個觀點是因為她認為術語「non-trans」這個詞對普通人來説更爲明白,使得幫助跨性別個體正常化。

女性和性別研究學者Mimi Marinucci寫道,有些人認為「跨性別、順性別」的二元性與「男性化女性化」的性別二元論一樣危險或自欺欺人,因為它與跨性別者相反,並且任意地將認同自己為女同性戀、男同性戀或雙性戀(LGB)的人混為一談,對於一個異性戀主義的人來說過於簡單化了。非跨性别人士(non-trans)可能会提出疑問,因為將LGB個體與異性戀放在一起表明LGB个体与跨性别者不同,可能代表「LGB个体的性別認同性別表現的經歷與文化對他們的期望沒有任何的不相容」。[20]

來自雙性人組織[编辑]

雙性人天生就具有非典型的生理性别特征,這可能會使最初的性別指定複雜化並導致不自主或強制的醫療。[21][22]根據interACT倡導者的說法,儘管有雙性人使用這個詞,順性別這個術語可能會讓有雙性人特徵的人「感到困惑」。[23]「雙性人平權運動」人士Hida Viloria指出,作为一个天生拥有雙性人身體的人,他的性别认同感是非二元性的,感覺與他的身體一致,這使得他天生即是順性別又是非二元性別,但是根據順性別的定義,與非二元性別可能是对立的,这证明了这个词的基础是一个二元性别模型,而这个模型并不能解释雙性人的存在。他还批评了「出生時指定性別」一詞在順性別者的定義中被使用,卻沒有註意到嬰兒在世界大多數地區都被指定為男性或女性,而不考慮世界上的雙性人地位,並且指出這樣做混淆了雙性人的誕生並在男性或女性的二元性別基礎中構建了性別認同,以及未能解釋某些天生雙性人的性別認同是非二元的存在。除此之外還有對雙性人基於性別的歧視,說明其為產後性別特徵而不是性別認同或表現,就如同「正常化」嬰兒生殖器手術一樣。[24]
