海防事件发生于1946年11月23日，当时法国苏弗朗号巡洋舰和几艘通报舰[3]轰炸了越南海防市，造成约6,000名越军死亡。[2]该事件也被称为海防炮击事件，被认为是一系列冲突的第一次冲突，导致了1946年12月19日的河内战役，随之而来的是第一次印度支那战争的爆发。[4][5][6]
