石笔海胆（学名Eucidaris tribuloides）是一种头帕科海胆。其型态、发育及分子遗传特征都令它们成为一种有趣的物种。[1]
分类[编辑]
石笔海胆最初是由让-巴普蒂斯特·拉马克（Jean Baptiste Lamarck）所命名。[2]
分布及栖息地[编辑]
石笔海胆分布大西洋两岸，由西边的美国至巴西至东边的毛里塔尼亚至加蓬，位于大西洋洋中脊及整个加勒比海。[3]在大西洋西边，它们分布北至哈特拉斯角（Cape Hatteras）[4]及南至里约热内卢。[5]它们也有分布在墨西哥湾的阿拉克兰礁（Alacran Reef）。[6]在大西洋东边的佛得角、几内亚湾、亚速尔群岛及阿森松岛有石笔海胆变种的Eucidaris tribuloides var. africana出没。[7]
石笔海胆是夜间活动及底栖的。[3]在日间，它们会用其大刺将自己牢牢的挂在石上或石缝间。它们很少会远离自己的地方。[3]夜间，它们主要吃珊瑚及海绵。[8]
台湾南部珊瑚礁海岸偶可发现的石笔海胆，正处于濒临绝种危机。[9]
繁殖[编辑]
石笔海胆的繁殖对于季节转变及月相都十分敏感。在佛罗里达礁岛群，它们于夏末及初冬的繁殖率最高。[3]在巴拿马的群落则会于春天、夏天及冬天进行繁殖，约于满月的时份达至最高峰。[10]
