試金石
試金石是一種小塊的深色石材，例如板岩或放射蟲岩就屬於試金石，它們主要用來分析貴金屬合金的純度。試金石具有細膩的表面，軟金屬在試金石上會留下可見的痕跡[1]。

印度河流域文明和古希臘的人民就懂得使用試金石來探測軟金屬的純度[2][3]。
