帕奈號事件（英語：USS Panay incident）發生於1937年12月12日，大日本帝國軍隊轟炸了長江上的美國海軍炮艦帕奈號，以及3艘標準石油公司的油船，並且用機槍掃射落水的倖存者。當時正值日軍攻入南京之際，遭受攻擊的船隻搭載着逃出南京的中國難民。事件發生後，美國國內輿論譁然，民眾震怒於日本的行徑，但是美日雙方很快進行了調停與和解。在調停中，日方辯稱軍隊攻擊時沒有看到船隻甲板上的美國國旗。隨後，日本政府正式道歉，並且立即支付了賠償金。^[1]
