新美鞭菌屬是新美鞭菌門新美鞭菌科真菌的一屬。其學名來自古希臘語詞根neo-（新）、calli-（美麗）和mastix（鞭）。「新美鞭菌屬」系台灣生物多樣性資訊入口網所採用的中文名。^[2]
