特拉華大學（英語：University of Delaware，簡稱UD或UDel），美國特拉華州的最大的大學。主校區位於紐瓦克，在多佛、威爾明頓、劉易斯和喬治敦有分校區。[5][6]
歷史[編輯]
1743年，特拉華大學的前身「自由學校」（Free School）由長老會牧師弗朗西斯·阿里森成立於賓夕法尼亞州新倫敦[7]。歷史上多次易名、遷址，1769年改為紐瓦克學院（Academy of Newark），並獲得賓夕法尼亞殖民地政府頒發的憲章。1776年殖民地政府為防止其與賓夕法尼亞大學競爭而取消其憲章。1843年改名特拉華學院（Delaware College），並與紐瓦克學院（Academy of Newark，1833年特拉華州政府成立）合併。1859年至1870年間關閉，1870年通過贈地法案重新開張[8] 。1921年改現名。它一直只招收男性，1945年和特拉華女子學院（Women's College of Delaware）合併之後才成為男女共學的大學[9]。
校區[編輯]
德拉華大學綠化良好，有着喬治亞式的教研大樓和管理大樓。學校享有政府允許的陸地、海洋、太空與城區使用權。
德拉瓦大學位於特拉華州的紐瓦克市。紐瓦克基本上是一座大學城，小鎮的主要街道是貫穿東西的Main street。小鎮除靠95號州際公路，延東北跟西南來往於紐約跟華盛頓特區之外，穿過小鎮的主要兩條公路即896跟273號公路，也帶領學生們深入新英格蘭的心臟，或者一親契斯皮客灣的大西洋岸。
德拉瓦大學距離第95號州際公路只有幾分鐘的路程。從紐瓦克乘坐汽車或火車到華盛頓特區和紐約市不過2小時車程（170 公里），距費城和巴爾的摩（80公里）1小時車程，距離費城國際機場僅有55分鐘的車程。
德拉瓦大學距特拉華州首府多佛市、新澤西和馬里蘭的海濱旅遊勝地與帕克諾山滑雪勝地僅有2個小時的車程。附近大西洋以及賓夕法尼亞州波可諾山脈的旅遊區也為學生提供了豐富的夏季和冬季活動地點。

特拉華大學是該州較好的大學之一，排名依排名機構的不同而有較大差異。

校內有多樣性社團，學生可自選參加。校方提供的各方面的輔導，學生可多加利用。
特殊設施包括學習研究中心、美術館、廣播電視、語言中心等供學生使用。運動設施包括體育館、溜冰場、游泳池、網球場、健身房、田徑場、回力球場。
