Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake

《雪夜林邊小駐》（英語：Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening）是羅伯特·弗羅斯特於1922年創作的一首詩，收錄在他1923年的《新罕布殊爾》詩集中。該作品使用了意象、轉化、重複等修辭手法。在寫給路易斯·安特邁耶的信中，佛洛斯特稱這首詩是「我最好的紀念品」。[2]

詩文描述了一個車夫（敘述者）在雪夜途徑樹林，他在此短暫停留，觀看雪花飄落林間。在詩歌末尾，他提醒自己不應迷戀這美好景色，因為「我還有諾言須遵守，/睡前還有許多路要走。」
創作背景[編輯]
這首詩是佛洛斯特居住在佛蒙特州沙夫茨伯里時寫成。當時他通宵創作長詩《新罕布殊爾》，寫完時已是第二天清晨。佛洛斯特走出居所，在觀看日出時獲得了《雪夜林邊小駐》的靈感。[2] 佛洛斯特自述「在幾分鐘內」寫下了這首「有關雪夜和小馬」的新詩。[3]
結構與風格[編輯]
詩歌韻律為四步抑揚格，該韻律來自愛德華·菲茨傑拉德改編自12世紀波斯詩人和數學家歐瑪爾·海亞姆的魯拜詩節。每一詩節（除了最後一節）遵循 AABA 韻法，並且每個B韻又與下一詩節的A韻一致，由此構成鏈韻。對整首詩而言，韻法為 AABA BBCB CCDC DDDD。
詩歌以敘述者的思考開篇，因而多用到柔和的「w」和「th」音節，以及兩個「ll」音節。在詩歌第二節，生硬的音節開始出現，例如「k」和「qu」，它們打破了先前的寂靜氣氛。然後，隨着敘述者的思考被小馬鈴鐺聲響打斷，更加生硬音節「g」出現。[4]
逗號的故事[編輯]
有個廣為流傳的說法，稱佛洛斯特寫下此詩最後一節首行「樹林可愛、黑暗深沉（The woods are lovely, dark and deep）」時並未使用牛津逗號，但編輯或排版員自作主張為這句詩加上了逗號，使之變為了「樹林可愛、黑暗、深沉（The woods are lovely, dark, and deep）」。顯然可以看出（並且也正如許多英語文學教師強調的那樣），逗號顯著改變了這句詩的意涵，將佛洛斯特的原意「樹林的可愛來自它的黑暗深沉」變為了「樹林可愛、黑暗又深沉。」[5] 據稱在佛洛斯特的要求下，逗號被移除。[6] 但在他死後，另一個編輯又加回了這個逗號。[7]
知名引用[編輯]
1963年11月23日早晨，西屋廣播通訊員席德·戴維斯（Sid Davis）報道約翰·甘迺迪的棺材運抵白宮。佛洛斯特是甘迺迪總統最喜愛的詩人之一，因此戴維斯在報道中引用了《雪夜林邊小駐》的詩句，但在結尾時仍因情緒激動，止不住哽咽。[8][9]
2003年10月3日加拿大前總理皮埃爾·特魯多的葬禮上，賈斯汀·杜魯多引用此詩表達他對自己父親的讚揚「樹林可愛、黑暗幽深。他遵守諾言，獲得長眠。」[10]
印度前總理賈瓦哈拉爾·尼赫魯晚年時總是隨身攜帶佛洛斯特的詩集，甚至也將它放在了臨終時的床頭柜上。在這本詩集中，《雪夜林邊小駐》最後四行加了下劃線。[11]
作曲家蘭德爾·湯普森將此詩改編成了音樂，收錄在作品《Frostiana》中。

- 在1977年的電影《霹靂大火拼》中，這首詩被用作激活蘇聯潛伏特工的暗語。
- 理查德·凱利在2006年的電影《南方傳奇》中引用了此詩。
- 昆汀·塔倫蒂諾在2007年電影《金剛不壞》的一個場景中也引用了此詩。[12]
