周青元（英语：Chiu Keng Guan） ，马来西亚籍电影导演，出生于柔佛州峇株巴辖县。[1]

职业生涯[编辑]

周青元早期主修平面设计和美术系[2]，随后投入陶瓷和雕塑业。之后，他加入马来西亚HVD担任质量保证员，开始了他的电影生涯[3]。

周青元后来报读北京电影学院[4][5]，成了张艺谋和陈凯歌等著名导演的学弟。毕业后，他合作过几部电视剧、广告和商业宣传片，并且也担任过助理导演和摄影师。他协助成立了马来西亚电视频道八度空间，并从Astro接下几份自由工作（在此前担任中文制作部高级节目经理）。

周青元与Astro的合作造就了他的成名之路。他指导了多部中文贺岁电影，其中包括《大日子》、《天天好天》和《一路有你》。他和马来西亚其他本地导演的指导方向别于倾向发掘业余或非职业演员来担任片里的主要角色[6] 。其中一位他所提拔的演员李世平更在2015年通过《一路有你》的角色荣获第27届马来西亚国际电影节最佳男主角。当年75岁的李世平同时是此奖项最年长的获奖人，也是第一位华裔获奖人[7][8]。

周青元的指导方向偏向于抒情，其电影题材也非常生活化和本土化，适合马国各年龄层的观众。他2016年的足球电影作品《辉煌年代》更是因融入马来西亚足球史及当地各大民族的元素，让非华裔观众也能产生共鸣。因此他的几部电影都被誉为“全民电影”。他的作品多次刷新马来西亚本土电影票房[9]，也获得了几项影展和电影节的提名[10][11][12]。

2019年，周青元的作品《大大哒》正式在中国上映，并且他也声称他在11月前往中国，执导一部中国投资的电影。
