社区的命名来源于密西西比河上的本洛蒙德棉花种植场，所有者为乔治·M·布朗。一个轧棉机位于临近此社区的地带。[2]
本洛蒙德境内拥有一座汽艇着陆点以及一座邮政局，坐落于河对岸的莱克普罗维登斯。[3]
本洛蒙德于1900年有26人口。[4]一座邮政局于1879年至1913年以本洛蒙德的名义之下运作。[5]如今的聚居故地已被密西西比河浸没。
