聖誕階梯（Christmas Steps）是英格蘭布里斯托市中心的一條歷史悠久的街道。
名稱[編輯]
這條街在中世紀最初稱為皇后街，後來稱為克尼費斯邁思街（Knyfesmyth Street），以那裡的商人命名。中古英語中這個「K」需要發音。這可能是現在街名的起源。另一種觀點認為街名來自位於階梯頂部的科隆三王禮拜堂的花窗玻璃描繪的基督降生場景。
在17世紀，聖誕階梯一度稱為隆斯福德階梯（Lonsford's Stairs），以紀念一名英國內戰期間在階梯頂部被殺害的騎士黨軍官。[1]
歷史[編輯]
這條陡峭的台階建於1669年9月，由富有的葡萄酒商人喬納森·布萊克威爾出資。[2][3] 在此之前，有一條陡峭、泥濘和狹窄的街道，從城牆外舊聖巴多羅買醫院附近芙倫河（River Frome）上的橋開始，通往山上的聖米迦勒堂（St Michael's church）[4]。
聖誕階梯在1865-1881 年之間列為 II級登錄建築,[5]，現在開設各種商店。
