同樣地，按鈕也屬於一個reddit版塊（subreddit），該版塊具有標準的 Reddit外觀，不同之處是按鈕活動位於版塊頂部。按鈕為淺藍色，[8]採用防誤觸設計，用戶在真正點擊按鈕以時計時器重置前，還需點擊一次以去掉按鈕上的保護罩。[9] 每個帳號只能點擊一次按鈕，且必須在4月1日活動開始前註冊。[10] 也有點擊按鈕次數的計數。[11]

所有用戶的用戶名旁邊都被添加了一個名為「標籤」（flair）的圓點。圓點的顏色根據用戶點擊按鈕時計時器的讀數而不同， 沒有點擊按鈕的用戶為灰色。 將光標停留在圓點上時，將顯示用戶點擊按鈕時計數器上的時間（以秒為單位）。[12] 在該版塊，用戶的點擊時間和隨後的標籤顏色最後變成了區分其階級的符號。[10][12]

2015年6月5日，協調世界時21:49:53，Reddit用戶「BigGoron」最後一個按下按鈕（被社區稱為「The Pressiah」）。[14] 60秒後，倒數計時器達到零，距離開始有2月4日。 從此，按鈕已停用，並覆蓋了文本「實驗已結束」（the experiment is over）。[15] 六分鐘後，按鈕活動的創建者，管理員「powerlanguage」，宣布該版塊將在十分鐘內存檔。[16]
