艾塔普-韦瓦克战役是第二次世界大战太平洋战争中最后几场战役之一，持续时间从1944年11月一直到1945年8月战争结束为止，其中拥有空军和海军支援的澳洲第6师（英语：6th Division (Australia)）和坚守在新几内亚北部的大日本帝国第18军。期间澳洲部队新几内亚展开大规模“扫荡”行动，虽然他们最后成功逼迫日本军队撤离沿海地区并且向内陆前进，但是在丛林的艰难环境下造成士兵因偷袭的伤亡和罹患疾病的比率甚高。而由于当时日本已经处于即将败北的情况，这使得这些伤亡后来被拿来质疑艾塔普-韦瓦克战役的战略必要性。
