台湾马醉木（学名：Pieris taiwanensis Hayata）为杜鹃花科马醉木属下的一个种。别名为台湾梫木、台湾桂木。是常绿性的矮灌木，主要生长环境为向阳坡面。全世界马醉木属的植物有十种，台湾只有一种，即为台湾马醉木。是少数台湾原生物种从低海拔一直到三千多公尺海拔都有分布的物种，北部在低海拔山区即有出现，南部则分布在稍高海拔的地区。花期为三月到六月。

叶为革质，全缘倒批针型，叶子为绿色，幼叶为粉红或红色，叶丛生。花长约一公分，为白色花瓣，下垂呈现半展开的灯笼状，总状或圆锥花序，看起来一大串。
命名[编辑]
台湾马醉木全株有毒，马吃了会像喝醉一样昏倒不醒，所以称之。茎叶、种子有剧毒。

Pieris taiwanensis Hayata is a species of the genus Rhododendron. It is an evergreen shrub 1-3m high, bark smooth, with a main growing environment on the sunny slope. There are ten species of plants in the world, and there is only one species in Taiwan. It is a small number of native species of Taiwan that have been distributed from low altitude to more than 3,000 meters. The flowering period is from March to June.

The leaves are coriaceous, oblanceolate to lanceolate-oblong. The leaves are green above, pale beneath, the midrib strongly raised above, slightly raised beneath, the foliation are pink or red, and the leaves are fasciculate. The flower is about one centimeter long and is a white petal with a semi-expanded lantern-like shape and a large inflorescence cymose or raceme.

Taiwan's horse drunk wood is poisonous, and the horse will faint like a drunk, so call it.
